Sarcophaga est le genre type de la famille des Sarcophagidae, de grosses mouches qui entrent dans les maisons pour pondre sur la viande. Dans la nature, elles pondent sur les animaux morts dont ses asticots se nourrissent. Leur taxinomie est encore très discutée.
