Robert Lyster Thornton (29 novembre 1908 - 28 septembre 1985) est un physicien anglo-canadien-américain qui a travaillé sur les cyclotrons au Laboratoire national Lawrence-Berkeley d'Ernest Lawrence dans les années 1930. Pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, il participe au développement du calutron dans le cadre du projet Manhattan.
